Why Archetypes?

Wednesday, October 31, 2007

When we look for guidance in how to construct our everyday lives, we still need to answer the central question of self:

  • What are my dreams and desires?
  • Who am I?
  • What do I want?
  • What's my purpose in this lifetime?

We know that our deepest relationships and meanings and context derive from the soul. And our aspiration, that grand and wonderful and mythical thing that we yearn to do, also ultimately derives from the soul. In our time here on earth, this individual soul will not be fulfilled unless it completes its mythical quest, which we can think of as the Grand Plan around which our destinies are organized.

Inside every human being there is an overarching theme, a template for heroic living, a god or a goddess in embryo that yearns to be born. This is who we were meant to be, the self that we deny ourselves because most of us cannot see the field of limitless potential that is open to us. This is our best self, the ego less self, that bit of the universe acting through us for the good of all.

These mythical stories, these heroes and heroines with, are called archetypes. Archetypes are perennial themes that reside at the level of the collective, universal soul. These themes are representations of our collective soul's yearnings, imagination, and deepest desires. These themes have existed forever.

We see them in the writings of ancient cultures, in literature through the ages. Their shapes shift dependent on where we are in history, but their core remains the same. These characters are usually presented as uncomplicated, with purity of intent, regardless of what that intent may be.

Archetypes are born of the collective soul, but they are enacted by individual souls. Their mythical dramas play out daily in our physical world.

You can pave the path to enlightenment by understanding the plan written on your soul, by nurturing the relationships that give you context and meanings, and by enacting your mythical drama.

Mantras

Mantras involve chanting to create special vibrations, sounds of the universe that create something from nothingness, that move energy from the unmanifest to the manifest.

If you recite a mantra out loud, its special pattern of vibrations creates its own effects, and can create events in our current physical realm. Reciting the mantra mentally creates a mental vibration, which then becomes more abstract. Ultimately it takes you into the field of pure consciousness or spirit from where the vibration arose.

So a mantra is a very good way to transcend and go back to the source of thought, which is pure consciousness. This is why specific mantras are recommended - because of the specific vibrations they induce.

The mantra I use, and that I recommend for achieving synchrodestiny, is the simple mantra "so-hum." This is the mantra of the breath, if you observe your breathing you'll hear "so-hum" as air moves in and out of your lungs. As you inhale, the sound of that vibration is "so." And as you exhale, the sound becomes "hum."

With your eyes closed, inhale and think the word "so"; on the exhale, think the word "hum." Gradually, both the breath and the sound will become quieter and quieter and quiter, and the breath becomes so quiet that it almost seems to stop. By quieting your breath, you quiet your mind.

When you transcend, the mantra "so-hum" entirely disappears, and your breath pauses momentarily. Time itself comes to a stop and y ou're in the field of pure consciousness, the nonlocal domain, spirit, the ground of being.

How to Meditate

Tuesday, October 30, 2007

Our minds are constantly active, always jumping from thought to thought, emotion to emotion. Getting in touch with the nonlocal intelligence, the universal soul that lies within us and is part of us all, requires finding a way past the fog of distracting thoughts that typically hide it from us.

We cannot fight our way through that barrier any more than we can fight our way through a real fog. If you want to see across the street on a foggy day, nothing you can do physically will help. You must wait, patiently and calmly, for the fog to thin and lift on its own. Once in a while, a clear patch will emerge, and you can glimpse what lies ahead.

The same is true of thoughts. If we are quiet, we encounter moments of pure silence - I call them thought "gaps" - and through these gaps we can glimpse the deeper level of the soul. Each glimpse increases our understanding, and eventually our consciousness becomes expanded.

The purpose of meditation is to stop thinking for a time, wait for the fog of thought to thin, and glimpse the spirit within. Controlling the flood of thoughts is very difficult for most people. Beginners can sometimes become very frustrated, but frustration is just another thought, another emotion that gets in the way. The goal is to release all thoughts, quietly, passively.

A common way to begin meditation is to gently focus on one thing so that it becomes more difficult for stray thoughts to enter your mind. I like to start with a breathing meditation.

To begin meditation, find a comfortable position. Sit in a comfortable chair, with your feet flat on the ground. Place your hands in your lap with the palms facing upward. Close your eyes and begin witnessing your breath. Observe the inflow and outflow of your breath without attempting to control it in any way.

You may find that your breathing spontaneously gets faster or slower, deeper or shallower, and may even pause for a time.

Observe the changes without resistance or anticipation. Whenever your attention drifts away from your breath to a sound in the environment, or a sensation in your body, or a thought in your mind, gently return your awareness to your breathing.

This is the basic meditation. Once a person becomes comfortable with simply sitting and focusing on breathing, I recommend adding a mantra which creates a mental environment that will allow you to expand your consciousness.

Meditation

The most powerful tool we have for learning to live synchrodestiny, to see the connective patterns of the univers, to make miracles out of our desires, is meditation. Meditation allows us to place our atention and intention in these more subtle planes, giving us access to all that unseen, untapped information and energy.

If your doctor gave you a prescription to walk for twenty minutes twice a day and tole you that those walks alone would lead to good health, peace of mind, freedom from worry, increased success in your personal and professional life, would you follow her recommendation? Most people would at least give it a try.

The synchrodestiny prescription is to meditate for fifteen to twenty minutes twice a day, followed by a moment of extending an invitation to your archetypes (I'll post on this as soon as the meditation posts are complete). If you do that twice a day, you'll start to see a transformation in your life and creating the miracles you want.

Meditation is a simple process that is difficult to describe, but is very easy to do once you begin to practice it regularly. In the next post, I will present the basics of meditation so that we can successfully apply the principles of synchrodestiny as described in the book.

Getting started

Monday, October 29, 2007

Over the next several weeks, we will be exploring quantum physics, archetypes, meditations, mantras, sutras, miracles and coincidences as we work our way through The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire by Deepak Chopra.

This week, I will be posting the basic elements of the program. You can choose to incorporate all of the elements, or you can choose to do only some of them. The most time intensive element is daily meditation. If you already have a daily meditation routine, that's great. If you are not familiar with meditation, that's OK too. His meditation technique is super easy and only requires is 15 or 20 minutes a day twice a day.

Yes, we are all busy people, and adding anything more to your day might seem impossible. But think of it this way:

  • If Bill Gates said to you, "Give me 40 minutes a day, and I'll give you whatever you want," would you take him up on the offer?
  • If the Master of the Universe showed up in your living room this morning and said, "Give me 1 hour a day of your time, and I'll show you how to have anything you desire," would you do it?
  • If your doctor said to you, "Take 45 minutes every day to do this one thing, and you will be happy and healthy for the rest of your life," would you do it?
  • Deepak Chopra says, follow this program and your life will be transformed, miracles will become every day occurrences, your personal vibration will change for the better, and you will find that you experience the spontaneous fulfillment of desire on a regular basis. So, will you do it?

The Spontaneous Fullfilment of Desire

Sunday, October 28, 2007

Most of us go through life a little afraid, a little nervous, a little excited. We are like children playing hide and seek, wanting to be found, yet hoping we won't be, biting our nails in anticipation. We worry when opportunity approaches a little too closely and hide deeper in the shadows when fear overcomes us. This is no way to go through life.

People who understand the true nature of reality, those whom some traditions call enlightened, lose all sense of fear or concern. All worry disappears. Once you understand the way life really works - the flow of energy, information, and intelligence that directs every moment - then you begin to see the amazing potential in that moment. Mundane things just don't bother you anymore. You become lighthearted and full of joy. You also begin to encounter more and more coincidences in your life.

When you life your life with an appreciation of coincidences and their meanings, you connect with the underlying field of infinite possibilities. This is when magic begins. This is a state I call synchrodestiny, in which it becomes possible to achieve the spontaneous fulfillment of our every desire. Synchrodestiny requires gaining access to a place deep within yourself, while at the same time awakening to the intricate dance of coincidences out in the physical world. It requires understanding the profound nature of things, recognizing the wellspring of intelligence that endlessly creates our universe, and yet having the intention to pursue specific opportunities for change as they appear.

This is what Deepak Chopra proposes to do in the book "The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire". We are going to be testing his methods and trying out his ideas to see if it will work for us. He goes on to say the following:

This book will not change your life overnight, but if you are willing to devote a little time every day, you will find that miracles are not only possible, they are abundant. Miracles can happen every day, every hour, every minute of your life. At this moment, the seeds of a perfect destiny lie dormant within you. Release their potential and live a life more wondrous than any dream.

So... Are we ready for this or what?

Are we ready for miracles?

Saturday, October 27, 2007

Although we think of them as extraordinary, miracles streak across our consciousness every day. We can choose to notice or ignore them, unaware that our destinies may hang in the balance.

Tune in to the presence of miracles, and in an instant, life can be transformed into a dazzling experience, more wondrous and exciting than we could even imagine. Ignore it, and an opportunity is gone forever.

The question is:

  • Would you recognize a miracle if you saw one?
  • If you recognized it, what would you do?
  • And if you could somehow orchestrate your own miracles, which miracles would you choose?
  • Starting Monday (tomorrow), we are going to be learning how to create miracles in our own lives, are you ready to get started?

Our Next Project

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

It has been suggested that for our next project, we do "The Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire" by Deepak Chopra.

According to this book, not only are everyday coincidences meaningful, they actually provide us with glimpses of the field of infinite possibilities that lies at the heart of all things. By gaining access to this wellspring of creation, we can literally rewrite our destinies in any way we wish.

From this realm of pure potential we are connected to everything that exists and everything that is yet to come. “Coincidences” can then be recognized as containing precious clues about particular facets of our lives that require our attention. As you become more aware of coincidences and their meanings, you begin to connect more and more with the underlying field of infinite possibilities. This is when the magic begins. This is when you achieve the spontaneous fulfillment of desire.

At a time when world events may leave us feeling especially insignificant and vulnerable, Deepak Chopra restores our awareness of the awesome powers within us. And through specific principles and exercises he provides the tools with which to create the magnificent, miraculous life that is our birthright.

So, that's the sales pitch by the publisher. I have been reading this book, and I think it's worth trying his techniques. He is, after all, a millionaire, which clearly demonstrates that Deepak Chopra knows how to create affluence in his own life. And if this is how he accomplished it, I'm thinking it just might work for us as well.

The other suggestion that has been made is to take this project all the way through to the first of the year. Maybe a good day to end it would be Christmas Day. What do you guys think? The holidays are always so busy. It might be nice to just stick with something familiar and comfortable as we navigate the wear and tear of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

What do you guys think? Shall we try it? Is anyone vehemently opposed? If we are all agreed, I'd like to get it started on Sunday morning. This will give me time to finish wrapping up The Prosperity Game, organize the information, and post it at Zaadz and a few other places.

What's the rush?

Monday, October 22, 2007

I am working hard to get this project wrapped up so that we can start our next one. It's going a little slower than I would like, so I am offering this Abraham Card as today's post.

What's the big hurry? You're not ever going to get it done, so what are you racing toward?

Every single activity that you're involved in is for one purpose only, and that is to give you a moment of joy. That's why it all exists.

Lighten up. Laugh more.
Appreciate more. All is well.

Look what I found!

Sunday, October 21, 2007

Here's The Prosperity Game as played by someone else. I do not know if the game is still active and ongoing. I was tempted to sign up for it just to find out. And it's possible that I will. I haven't made up my mind yet. But I thought it was really interesting the way they set it up. Check it out:

Signup for the Online Prosperity Game
Online Prosperity Game Features:

  • Personalized checks - How much fun is it to see a check with your own name on it?
  • Play at your own pace - Play every day or skip a day or two - it is up to you. The automated game proceeds via "visits" instead of days so that you can play at your own pace.
  • Focus on Energetic Alignment - Step-by-step approach to game play supports you in becoming a better vibrational match to prosperity.
  • Automated tracking - our system records and reminds you of your selections - including the ongoing creation of your list of "100 Things to Be, Do and Have", graphic representations of how your desire and resistance change over time, as well as your daily purchases. Signup for the Online Prosperity Game

The online game is free, and there is also a downloadable handbook in both word and pdf format. As well as some other free stuff. Clearly, the website is centered around signing people up for their mentoring or coaching program, and also book sales etc. However, I think it might be worth a try for anyone who wants to give this the Prosperity Game another go. There is also a blog, but it hadn't been updated this month, so I'm not sure how active it is.

How do you think of money?

Saturday, October 20, 2007

While I'm waiting for the feedback to come in, here is something I found in my inbox this morning. It's from Higher Awareness and seemed appropriate so I thought I'd share.

"Money is a highly charged subject. And most of the emotions people feel around it are negative: fear, shame, embarrassment, anger."
~Jerrold Mundis

How do you think of money? How do you feel about money? Many of us are afraid of money. With this fear, we avoid dealing honestly and completely with our financial situation. We only have a vague idea of how much money we earn and spend, and even how much we owe. By refusing to accept financial responsibility, we sacrifice our chances for a better life.

"Choosing wealth as a goal requires facing everything about your money bravely, honestly, with courage -- which is a very, very hard thing for most of us to do. But it can be done."
~Suze Orman

So what do you guys think about this? Is it true for you? Does it get on your nerves to hear that you might be refusing to accept financial responsibility? Does it annoy you when someone says you are sacrificing your chances for a better life? My answer to the last two questions would be a "yes". What about you?

Wrapping things up

Friday, October 19, 2007

It looks like today is the last day of The Prosperity Game, which means that it's now time to recap our experiment, and see how well it worked.

  • Did you play the game?
  • If not, why not?
  • Was this technique successful for you?
  • What did you enjoy the most?
  • What was the least enjoyable?
  • Did you learn anything important about yourself?
  • Did you learn anything important about your relationship with money?
  • Would you recommend this technique to others?
  • What else would you like to say about it?

I firmly believe that one day, we will all be rich in whatever way is best suited to our own separate journeys. And the Prosperity Project will have been the catalyst that allowed us to transcend our limits, empowered us to climb out of our respective boxes, and gave us the mutual support needed to take leaps of faith and do our inner work.

It's possible that later on, other people will come along and explore the paths we took. This is why I think it's important to document not only the successes, but also the "failures" and the obstacles we encountered on our way. Your two cents are important here - even if it's just an explanation of why you didn't work this particular project, or why it didn't work for you.

Have you got what it takes?

Thursday, October 18, 2007

We've got billions in our virtual banking accounts... but do you really have what it takes to be a billionaire? Take the quiz at Forbes. I did, and here's my score:

Looks like I need to take some lessons from Bill Gates, currently the world's richest man. His net worth listed at Fobres is $56,000,000,000. Not bad for someone who didn't even finish college.

Rich Women

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

If I have counted correctly, we are today depositing $66,453,504,000.00 Yowsers! It's hard to believe that there could even BE that much money coming to me from anywhere! So I got curious about who is rich and just how rich are they. When I asked Google, "Who is the richest woman in the world?" this is what I found out:

According to the most recent Forbes magazine ranking, two women currently share the title, and they're related. Alice Walton (56), daughter of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton, is worth roughly 18 billion bucks. Alice lives in Texas, where she raises horses.

Helen Walton (85), the widow of Sam, was also good for lunch, with an estimated net worth of $18 billion. She currently resides in heaven, her final resting place after her death on April 20, 2007

Liliane Bettencourt (82), the daughter of L'Oreal founder Eugene Schueller, is the next lady on the list, with approximately 17.2 billion. She lives in France, where she awards a science prize every year.

Nine of the world's fifty richest people are women. The richest self-made woman in the world is Rosalia Mera (61) of Spain, who is worth approximately $2 billion. She started off making gowns and lingerie in her home. Her business eventually grew into the apparel manufacturer Inditex, which sold $6 billion worth of clothes last year.

And what about Oprah? According to Forbes, the media mogul is worth around $1.3 billion. Not too shabby, but still a ways behind the Walton women.

I'm back!

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

Hi guys! Well, it's been a while since I've been online. It looks like we have amassed an amazing amount of money in the interim, so here's a picture of the world's largest piggy bank.

How much have you been able to spend so far? Did anyone notice at what point it became impossible to spend it all? Has anyone succeeded in spending all of it?

You're on your own for a few days!

Sunday, October 07, 2007

Today we are depositing and spending twice as much money as yesterday. And I will be missing out on all the fun here at the Prosperity Project, because I will be gone for several days.

I'm going to be hanging out at a state park in Oklahoma, visiting my parents, and taking a few chill pills. There will be no access to internet or email, so you guys are really on your own.

I found this cool little calculator widget for you so that you can easily add up your daily deposits. I'm hoping that I will come back to lots of posts and comments about how things are coming along. I also hope to come back rejuvenated, rested, and relaxed.

The Law of Attraction

Saturday, October 06, 2007

Today we are depositing and thinking about how to spend $32,448,000.00. It almost seems too good to be true. So, here's a little reminder of why we are doing this project:

Whatever I desire - and then allow - I must experience. There is no exception to that.

As I hold myself in vibrational alignment with my own desire, I will experience, in all ways, the fulfillment of that desire.

No, it's not the Loony Bin. It's Luna Parc!

Friday, October 05, 2007

Today we are depositing so much money it seriously boggles the mind. If my addition is correct, we are now up to $16,224,000.00 !! Is anyone having problems figuring how how to spend their money? Or is 16 million easily spendable?

Over at More Cool Pictures, I recently uploaded this really cool series of pictures of Luna Parc. I think I might just devote the rest of my millions to becoming an eccentric artist like Ricky Boscarino.... creating my own little fantasy world of texture, color, and sound. Trip on over and check it out. I liked it so much that I posted it 3 times.

Here are the links: Luna Parc, More Luna Parc, Inside Luna Parc. Cool huh?

We shall overcome!

Thursday, October 04, 2007

In view of yesterday's post, I did a search for "overcoming obstacles" and came up with quite a few relevant posts. If you are feeling obstructed, it might be worthwhile to read through some of them again.

I also posted a story about "Strikes Two Woman" on my personal blog, shirleytwofeathers. I found it very inspiring, and I want very much to be her! So, go read it, and then come back here and sing this song:

"They are whipped, my problems are whipped. They are running away, my problems are running away. Look at them run! They are running away! Hey-a-hey"

When you get done singing, sit down and make a deposit of $8,112,000.00 and then write some checks. Even if it's just one check... just write it! Write one to yourself - appreciation for services rendered! Unclench your teeth. Relax your mouth. Open your hands. Breathe in. Breathe out. Yes!

The Four Million Dollar Blues

"Following in the footsteps of giants - maybe it's not such a good idea!"
~art by Shirley Gibson

Today we are depositing $4,056,000.00 and I am in a bad funk, Melissa has been down in the dumps, Cindy is having a rough time, and so is Daniel. Not one of us has been able to work the project for various reasons. And yet, it's so easy and ought to be soothing and fun - especially in light of our fiscal woes. So what's up with that? Is the very fact that we either cannot get online, or we cannot make our hands write checks... is that an out loud example of how we are blocking our prosperity? Or is it simply that the mastermind was so powerful that we have to have some time to make room in our selves for the new... do we now have to work through deeper issues and darker problems in order to pull out all the stops to our prosperity?

Michelle, on the other hand, and I think Scruffy Hippo as well, have been working the project and seeing some success. Why doesn't that inspire the rest of us?

I don't know. If anyone has any insight or observations or thoughts to share... please do. It's a conundrum to me!

Green Peace

Tuesday, October 02, 2007

Today our deposit is a whopping $2,048,000.00! I think it might be time to start looking into worthy causes to support. I'm thinking that I will tithe a minimum of 10% of all my deposits from here on out to Greenpeace. Their ad sounds kind of harsh, I know, but I'm detoxing and feeling raw... so it resonates with me!

How about you guys? Who are you donating to? What causes do you support? Where is your money going?

Island living!

Monday, October 01, 2007

Today we are depositing $1,024,000.00. That's enough money to buy your own private island! So I went looking... What I found was shocking and amazing. Did you know you could RENT an island for UNDER $500 a week? That's right!

At Private Islands Online, I found this lovely little place for rent for only $175 a week. Yes, you read it right and it's no typo. For only $175 a week, you can rent this lovely island! How cool is that? It's Leleuvia, a small coral island located south of Ovalau in Fiji. The island is surrounded by clear waters, palm trees and wrapped in 2 kilometres of white beaches.
